The Pro Bowl is one of the biggest events in NFL history. It is played each year after the Super Bowl and features some of the top players in the NFL.
The 2023 Pro Bowl will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 5, 2023. The game will feature two conferences of players, the AFC and the NFC. The games will be held at Allegiant Stadium and will start on Sunday morning at 7:00 AM local time, with the entire four-plus hours of the game showcased on ESPN.
A new format is set to debut at the Pro Bowl in 2023. Instead of just a single game between AFC and NFC teams, the NFL is adding a weeklong skills competition to the Pro Bowl.
It will feature a series of challenges that aren’t as familiar to fans, including Epic Dodgeball and Longest Drive to Kick Tack Toe, among others. It will also include three flag football games and a seven-on-seven scrimmage.
How to Watch the 2023 Pro Bowl
In addition to airing on ESPN, this year’s event will be shown on ABC, ESPN Plus, Disney XD and ESPN Deportes for Spanish-language broadcasts. This will be the first time that this event has been shown on networks other than NBC or Fox.
How does this new format work?
The first two days of the Pro Bowl will be dedicated to a skills competition. These events are a lot like the NBA Slam Dunk contest and the MLB Home Run Derby, in that players will show off their best catches and get judged by celebrity judges. The winners of each round will then compete in a final round live on the field.
This skills competition is the main attraction of the 2023 Pro Bowl. Each of the eight skill competitions will be aired live in primetime on Thursday and again on Sunday, culminating in the three 7-on-7 flag football games and the final Pro Bowl Flag game.
Each of the skill competitions will also be streamed on ESPN+ with the option to purchase the full episode if desired. This will allow viewers to watch the Pro Bowl without paying for a cable subscription or being an ESPN subscriber, and you can sign up for a free trial on ESPN+.
Other Skills Competitions
Some of the other skills competitions that will be featured at the 2023 Pro Bowl are Best Catch, Gridiron Gauntlet and Kick Tac Toe. The former is a relay race that involves various obstacles that test speed, strength and agility, while the latter involves a giant tic-tac-toe board where kickers, punters and long snappers will be put to the test by competing in a game of three in a row or five squares total.
Move The Chains will also be included in the 2023 Pro Bowl, as teams from each conference will pull a weighted wall 10 yards as fast as they can with a pair of first down chains. This is a great challenge for both teams, as it shows off teamwork and strength.
