The 2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games will feature a new format that will change how fans and players interact with the game. Instead of a standard tackle football game, the event will feature a series of skills competitions and three non-contact flag football games.
The first block of skills events will take place on February 2 and 5, at Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center in Las Vegas. The second block will be held at Allegiant Stadium on Feb.5.
Dodgeball
Dodgeball is the latest skill-competition addition to the NFL PRO BOWL 2023, and it’s sure to be a blast. This event features teams of players from both conferences competing in a multi-round tournament of classic dodgeball, culminating in an AFC versus NFC battle.
The game will also feature a new “lightning round,” which will feature 16 players selected by each conference in a three-part elimination challenge, with three points at stake. Players will first compete in a “Splash Catch” competition, where they toss water balloons to each other from increasing distances. Then, they’ll move on to a “High Stakes” round, where they’re challenged to catch punts from a JUGS machine.
Longest Drive
In 2023, the NFL is changing up the Pro Bowl format in a major way. The event will no longer be a full-contact exhibition game and will instead feature a series of fun skills competitions and three flag football games.
Longest Drive – Four players from each conference will hit golf balls on a tee three times to see who can drive them the farthest. It should be a great way to see some of the NFL’s biggest athletes get in some quality practice.
The kicker, punter and long snapper will also have a chance to showcase their skills in a giant tic-tac-toe contest. This should be a lot of fun to watch and should be a good way for the kickers and punters to work on their accuracy.
Precision Passion
Precision is a crucial element in any good performance, especially in a sport like football where the goal is to beat the opponent. It’s also a necessary ingredient for effective learning leadership.
In the Pro Bowl of 2023, players will compete in a number of skill competitions and three 7-on-7 flag football games. The winning conference in each event earns three points towards their team’s overall score.
Best Catch
NFL PRO BOWL 2023 is the first year that the NFL has moved their version of All-Star Weekend to two days of unique skills challenges instead of one high-scoring exhibition game. Players will compete Thursday and Sunday in events like Epic Pro Bowl Dodgeball (yes, it’s real), a water balloon toss, golf ball drive, passing accuracy contest and Best Catch.
In the Best Catch competition, Pro Bowl receivers will show off their highlight reel receptions at various Las Vegas landmarks and then air them on the broadcast for fans to vote on. The winner will then be chosen from a panel of celebrity judges.
Gridiron Gauntlet
Pro Bowlers will test their skills on a new playing field this year as they compete in the Gridiron Gauntlet. Each conference will select four players to take a hack at golf balls on a tee and the player that hits the ball the furthest will earn three points for their team.
The NFL hopes the revamped event will lure in a dwindling audience after last year’s viewership hit a record low. The new format combines eight separate skills events and two flag football games, including a 7-on-7 game that sees the NFC’s offense face the AFC’s defense in a preliminary round.
Kick Tac Toe
Kick Tac Toe is an NFL version of Tic Tac Toe that involves each conference’s kicker, punter and long snapper. They compete to connect a line of three squares or fill five total squares on an on-field tic-tac-toe setup.
In 2023, the Pro Bowl is switching up its format with a week of skills competitions and a series of flag football games. This marks the first time the league has done this.
